Now, I know you might think that the reason you check out online style guides is that you don&#8217;t like clothes in your closet. That&#8217;s my point of view.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"get-clues-to-your-style-from-the-clothing-you-don-t-wear\"><strong>Look for Your Style Cues from Clothes You Don&#8217;t Wear<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>The clothes you don&#8217;t or won&#8217;t wear are different from the clothes you can&#8217;t. Clothing you may not wear includes clothing that does not fit, is dirty or damaged, or needs to be modified. You can&#8217;t wear these items, they will make your wardrobe a clutter.<\/span><\/p>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-1\">\n<div class=\"m-in-content-ad not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-1\" data-zone-count=\"9\">\n<div class=\"not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d m-in-content-ad is-empty not-filled\">\n<div id=\"ad-931eec19d2914cd2addfbfe39082b8e3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p><span>However, if you can get dressed and walk out of the house, but you don&#8217;t, then you need to consider why. Your answer is information that helps you determine your personal style.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"figure-out-what-colors-you-wear\"><strong>Figure out What Color You&#8217;re Wearing<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><span>Open your wardrobe door. What color is most eye-catching?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Are you wearing all the colors in your wardrobe? Sort through the items hanging there and find out which colors of clothing or accessories you don&#8217;t wear.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Why don&#8217;t you wear these colors? Do they make you feel monotonous or lack of energy? Do you associate colors with the uniform you wear (or wear)?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Now, pick up your notebook and pen and draw a line in the center of the page. Mark one column as &#8220;What I like to wear&#8221; and the other as &#8220;What I don&#8217;t wear&#8221;.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>List the colors you don&#8217;t wear in the corresponding fields.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Before listing the colors you&#8217;ve been wearing in the Likes column, think about whether you really feel great wearing them or if you&#8217;re wearing them for other reasons.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-2\">\n<div class=\"m-in-content-ad not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-2\" data-zone-count=\"9\">\n<div class=\"not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d m-in-content-ad is-empty not-filled\">\n<div id=\"ad-65b4e80122ac435eb0406eec6fee69ef\">\n<h2 id=\"identify-clothing-characteristics-you-don-t-like\"><strong>Find out Which Clothing Features You Don&#8217;t Like<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Look at the clothes you don&#8217;t and won&#8217;t wear to show you traits that don&#8217;t appeal to you or make your body feel uncomfortable. Make a note of your observations on the chart. Now, just focus on the items you take out of your closet and ignore the items that are still hanging in your closet.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"shape\">Shape<\/h3>\n<p>Look at the underside of your shirt. Do you see a lot of straight or curved draped hems? Is the overall look straight or smooth? How about your pants &#8211; slim, loose, flowy? Are these pieces hard, heavy, lace, velvety, soft and slippery? Don&#8217;t worry about the right fashion industry terminology for a certain feature. Use the same words you use in your store.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"patterns\">Pattern<\/h3>\n<p>Have you taken a lot of patterned or solid colors out of your wardrobe? How would you describe any pattern \u2013 bold, floral, delicate, geometric, artistic, subtle, etc.? Make a note of the features on the chart that you don&#8217;t seem to like.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"identify-what-you-like-about-the-clothing-you-wear\"><strong>Determine What You like About the Clothes You&#8217;re Wearing<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3 id=\"what-characteristics-do-you-like\">What Features Do You Like?<\/h3>\n<p>Now that you&#8217;ve identified qualities you don&#8217;t like, do you want to take more items out of your wardrobe? No matter how many items are left, see what you like about the remaining items and take notes on the chart.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-6\">\n<div class=\"m-in-content-ad not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-6\" data-zone-count=\"9\">\n<div class=\"not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d m-in-content-ad is-empty not-filled\">\n<div id=\"ad-b7eeff7849914924b9a27e7de7c913b9\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Do you notice any contradictions when you look at your favorite clothes? Maybe you say you don&#8217;t like custom pieces, but you have a pencil dress you like in your closet. Go back to the pile of clothes you took out of your closet. Maybe you don&#8217;t like something because of its color or pattern, not the cut of the fabric and the shape of the clothes. Many earthy pieces can be stacked; Maybe you tend to bohemian style. Flowing fabrics with delicate patterns and light or pastel fabrics? Maybe a romantic style.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-8\">\n<div class=\"m-in-content-ad not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-8\" data-zone-count=\"9\">\n<div class=\"not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d m-in-content-ad is-empty not-filled\">\n<div id=\"ad-2df0e736191e4c0190a38b25523f7432\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p>If your wardrobe doesn&#8217;t conform to traditional style, create your own brand \u2013 romantic gothic, bohemian business casual, California prep, film noir rock star style, whatever you want.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"shopping-for-your-style\">Shop to Suit Your Style<\/h3>\n<p>Even if you don&#8217;t know how to label your style, the most important part of this exercise is the list you create, determining which aspects of the clothes you like to keep and what you don&#8217;t like about the clothes you take out of the closet.
